This series comprises structural engineering records prepared by Ove Arup and Partners, who were retained by the Department of Public Works as Consulting Engineers for the Sydney Opera House Project. Ove Arup and Partners were engaged by Mr Jørn Utzon, Architect, in London, and were the only consultants who were involved in all stages of the Opera House construction.The structural engineering files are arranged in three groups. Group 1 contains files which Ove Arup claimed as of "Historic Interest Only" and includes survey information, construction schedules, geometric data etc. Such information is unlikely to be used again in a practical context. Group 2 files relate to calculations which are valid in whole or in part. However they relate to sections of the structure which are extremely unlikely to ever be subjected to changes, alterations or unusual loadings. Group 3 files include data, calculations and records related to areas which are more likely to be subjected to changes, than those covered by Group 2 files. They include Stage I (Ove Arup London Office) calculations for the podium levels, Concert Hall and Opera Theatre ceiling loading assessments and design and sundry calculations.(11/6125-39). 15 boxes.
