Puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici Genome Diversity Sequencing

This study examined sequence polymorphisms between a group of Puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici isolates collected in Africa which exhibit variation in phenotypes to a standard set wheat stem rust resistance genes. All sequences were compared with a North American reference assembly to identify a set of SNPs that were unique to individuals or subsets of these African strains. This study found a high level of polymorphism in these strains, and that across nearly all positions only two alleles are detected.
