Molecular response of brown macroalgae to heavy metal exposure: an (epi)genetic approach

We used next-generation sequencing to study DNA methylation changes and single nucleotide polymorphisms (epi-Genotyping by Sequencing) in thalli of the brown macroalgae Fucus vesiculosus to uncover the molecular mechanisms associated to phenotypic differentiation for heavy metal uptake in this species. With this work, we aim to enhance our understanding of the diversity of molecular mechanisms involved in land organisms' response to stress.
