NRS-21773 | Valuation and Rate books [Koreelah Shire/Tenterfield Shire Council]

This series consists of combined volumes of rates and valuations for the Shire of Koreelah Shire and then Tenterfield Shire for the period of 1907 - 1944 . These records were created under Regulation 51, schedule 1 under the Local Government (Shires) Act 1905 (Act No.33, 1905) and Local Government Act 1906 (Act No.56, 1906) and subsequent ordinances and regulations. [1]These volumes were designed for a three-year valuation cycle. Each valuation leaf is followed by three smaller leaves, one per year, on which rate payments and arrears were recorded. The valuation sheet includes: assessment number and previous assessment number; name and occupation of owner and occupier; the nature of the property (e.g. residential, commercial) and land description; the assessed value by year and type; whether the valuation was appealed and any new value resulting.
