Lake bathymetry measurements for sampled lakes in and around the Trail Valley Creek watershed, NT

This dataset contains bathymetry data collected in June 2017 from lakes near the Trail Valley Creek Research Station. The bathymetry data was spatially interpolated, producing raw files and processed data. The raw bathymetry files, named “all_lakes_bath_raw”, contains raw lake depth measurements collected using a Garmin echoMAP CHIRP 42dv fish finder and a GT20-TM transducer mounted to a canoe. Bathymetric data was extracted from the Garmin device using QDCConverter 2.5 (https://github.com/interlark/qdc-converter/releases/tag/v2.5), where the data layer was set to the recommended setting of “1”. The raw bathymetric data were processed into the bathymetry files named “all_lakes_bath”, where these bathymetry readings used an unknown spatial interpolation from the raw depth readings. The “BathymetryGPX” files support a shapefile of the recorded positions at regular intervals as the team traversed the different lakes. These readings helped make it possible to see where depth readings would not be valid, as clear readings were only possible on certain lakes, leading to patchy bathymetry coverage overall.
