A novel oxidovanadium complex, [VOLL’]·CH<sub>3</sub>OH, where L is the dianionic form of 3-((3-bromo-2-hydroxyphenyl)-{[1-(3-bromo-2-hydroxyphenyl)methylidene]amino}methyl)pentane-2,4-dione (H<sub>2</sub>L), L’ is 1,10-phenanthroline, was prepared and characterized by spectroscopic and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex crystallizes as the monoclinic space group <i>Cc</i>, with unit cell dimensions <i>a</i> = 18.806(2) Å, <i>b</i> = 14.960(2) Å, <i>c</i> = 12.954(2) Å, <i>β</i> = 123.719(2)°, V = 3031.5(6) Å<sup>3</sup>, Z = 4, <i>R</i><sub>1</sub> = 0.0638, <i>wR</i><sub>2</sub> = 0.0825, Goof =1.069. X-ray analysis indicates that the complex is a mononuclear oxidovanadiumm(V) species, with the V atom in octahedral coordination. The complex was evaluated for their antibacterial (<i>Bacillus subtilis</i>, <i>Staphylococcus aureus</i>, <i>Escherichia coli</i>, and <i>Pseudomonas fluorescence</i>) and antifungal (<i>Candida albicans</i> and <i>Aspergillus niger</i>) activities by MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide) method. Interestingly, the complex has strong activity against <i>S. aureus</i>.
