India Human Development Survey-II (IHDS-II), 2011-12 (ICPSR 36151)

The India Human Development Survey-II (IHDS-II), 2011-12 is a comprehensive, nationally representative dataset covering 42,152 households across 1,503 villages and 971 urban neighborhoods in India. Designed as a follow-up to IHDS-I (2004-05), it features re-interviews with most households to enable longitudinal analysis. The survey encompasses diverse topics such as health, education, employment, economic status, marriage, fertility, gender dynamics, social capital, and community infrastructure, among others. Each household participated in two one-hour interviews, and children aged 8-11 were assessed on basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills. This multi-topic survey offers valuable insights for examining socioeconomic and demographic trends in India.
