Abusive_ Tamil Text (Test dataset)

Using offensive language to target individuals or groups based on their social group membership, such as culture, gender, sexual orientation, or religion, constitutes verbal abuse. In the modern era of technology, the surge in detrimental and morally corrupt texts across various social media platforms has experienced a notable upsurge. This use of abusive language online has been associated with a global escalation in targeted violence against marginalized groups, leading to occurrences such as mass shootings, homicides, and acts of ethnic cleansing. In areas where English is not the predominant language, individuals frequently employ code-mixed text on social media platforms, thereby complicating the task of detecting abusive texts. This difficulty is further exacerbated by the lack of adequate resources for languages like Tamil, which adds to the complexity of the task. To address this issue, this research effort was undertaken, utilizing abusive Tamil language comments from the workshop "DravidianLangTech@ACL 2022".
