Rat ceca mobilomes from hospital sewer and the pristine Falkland Islands reveal a huge diversity of small unknown circular sequences.

To investigate impact of human activities on rat cecal mobilomes, specimens were collected at the pristine Falkland Islands and from a hospital sewer in Copenhagen, Denmark. Mobilomes were constructed by removal of chromosomal DNA and sequenced. Circular contigs were identified with a validated pipeline and the sequences annotated based on presence of complete genes similar to plasmid replication, mobilization or stability or viral replication or capsid.
