To identify mutations conferring resistance to anti-TB drugs, laboratory evolution of non-pathogenic M. smegmatis which is closely related to M. tuberculosis were conducted. For each obtained drug-resistant strain, whole-genome sequencing analysis using Illumina Miseq identified new resistance-conferring mutations.
