Bacteria were isolated from contaminated sites. Their plastic degrading potential was assessed using Minimal Salt Medium agar plates supplemented with different plastic polymers and monomers. BPM12 was selected for further screening against PET-related model substrates. Whole genome sequencing was performed to explore its full biocatalytic potential.
