Does tree species diversity enhance anti-herbivore defence of extrafloral nectary-bearing trees in subtropical forests?

Based on the subtropical forest Biodiversity-Ecosystem Functioning Experiment in China (BEF-China, https://bef-china.com/index.html) platform, we established a field experiment to investigate whether tree species richness facilitates the extrafloral nectary-bearing tree defence responses. We performed an integrated phyllosphere microbiome-metabolome analysis across three EFN-bearing tree species, examining their responses to three levels of herbivory damage severity.
