Reviews and syntheses: Constraining the Nitrous Oxide (N₂O) Budget Across Scales: A Critical Review of Sources, Sinks, Estimation Methods, and Knowledge Gaps

This repository provides supporting research materials for the systematic review entitled "Reviews and syntheses: Constraining the Nitrous Oxide (N₂O) Budget Across Scales: A Critical Review of Sources, Sinks, Estimation Methods, and Knowledge Gaps." The review examines 80 peer-reviewed studies published between 2002 and 2024 to assess the global N₂O budget, including emission sources, sinks, estimation approaches, and methodological uncertainties. The supporting data include the study-level classification database (Supplementary Table S1) and a focused evidence-endpoint assessment of 23 selected studies (Supplementary Table S2). These materials document the study classifications and evidence categories used in the review and support the transparency and reproducibility of the quantitative synthesis. The original scientific publications used to compile the database are cited in the associated manuscript.
