The present data is used in the study by Hes et al. 2025, in prep.   The total_T_understory.csv dataset is a collection hourly air temperature sensor data from the understory of moist tropical forests in French Guiana. The sensors were located in four forest sites (Nouragues: NOU, Paracou: PAR, Laussat: LAU, Itoupé: ITO) and covered variable time ranges from 4 months to 8.5 years with a total of 388 recorded years over the 2014-2024 period. Raw_data_identifier: the sensor identifier Tair: understory hourly air temperature monitored 15cm or 150cm aboveground for TMS and U23 sensors respectively ForestName: Nouragues: NOU, Paracou: PAR, Laussat: LAU, Itoupé: ITO ForestClass: subdivision of ForestNames to include elevational classification in Itoupé: low-elevation sites in the 400-600 m range (ITO1), mid-elevation sites in the 600-800 m range (ITO2) and high-elevation sites above 800 m in elevation (ITO3).Elevation: sensor location elevation in meters above sea-level LongTermPM: True if the sensor monitored at least the full 2018-2023 period (six years; n=24); False if it was measuring shorter periods Site_id: the sensor location identifier   The metadata_T_understory.csv file includes coordinates and elevation for each sensor location (Site_id). The habitat type and subtype is provided for each sensor location with the following correspondance: 1.6: tropical/subtropical moist lowland  1.9: tropical/subtropical moist montane For more information, refer to the Methods is Hes et al 2025.
