Evaluating TMSC as a Nutritional Supplement for Yak Calves During Dry and Green Pasture Seasons

Field trial on yak calves: A cohort of healthy grazing yak calves, aged between 6 and 12 months, was selected for a study in which each calf received a single intramuscular injection of TMSC at a dosage of 1 mL/50 kg of body weight. During the intervention trial conducted in the dry grass period, the calves were randomly assigned to either a non-supplemented control group (NC) or a TMSC supplementation group (TEI), with each group consisting of 10 calves. Similarly, for the trial conducted during the green pasture period, the calves were divided into a green pasture control group (GC) and a green pasture TMSC supplementation group (GTE), each also comprising 10 calves. The weight of all calves was recorded at the commencement of the trial (day 0) and again at the conclusion of the 60 day trial period. Additionally, rectal fecal and blood samples were collected for subsequent analysis.
