This study aims to investigate the role of endosymbiont bacteria Spiroplasma poulsonii in the defense of the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster against pathogens. For this purpose, we compared transcriptional profiling of symbiont-free and Spiroplasma-harbouring fruit flies which helped us to characterize the host responses affected by the symbiont.
