Genomic Characterization of Bacillus anthracis Isolates in Peru

This study focuses on characterizing the genomic features of Bacillus anthracis, the causative agent of anthrax, a zoonotic disease posing significant public health challenges in Peru. By analyzing 18 isolates from human and animal sources collected between 2005 and 2017 across various Peruvian regions, we employed next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics approaches to investigate antimicrobial resistance genes, virulence factors, plasmids, and phylogenetic relationships.
