资源简介:
This is a copy of the official determination by the Division Commander of the Northwestern Division of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Brigadier General Scott A. Spellmon, that for the purposes of compliance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the Kennewick Man skeletal remains should be considered "Native American." The 14-page report describes the information and research results that support this determination.
The determination is based on review and analysis of new information related to the skeleton known as Kennewick Man, and in particular, evidence provided by recently published DNA and skeletal analyses. The report concludes that there is substantial evidence to determine that Kennewick Man is related to modern Native Americans from the United States. Therefore, the human remains are "Native American" under NAGPRA.
