“Examining a hospital patient.” Portrait of an indigenous man sitting on a bench outside as Dr Irvine holds a stethoscope to his back. In 1924 Dr Irvine saw over 11,000 outpatients with the major diseases being yaws, leprosy and tuberculosis. ❧ This image is from the first years of the Chogoria mission in Kenya, which was run by the Rev.
