We assessed the dissimilarity (differences in species composition of the edge and core areas) in the 49 deciduous Natura 2000 forest habitats (turkey oak, oak-hornbeam, hardwood floodplain, and alder habitats) in Slovakia with different shapes and sizes. We studied the extent of the edge effect on spatial characteristics, functional components of vegetation (alien, forest, apophytes), and climatic conditions.
