We analysed the archaeal community using the arch-specific primers Arch349F (GYGCASCAGKCGMGAAW) and Arch806R (GGACTACVSGGGTATCTAAT). We sampled three depths below the peat/sediment surface (5cm, 15cm, 85cm) in triplicate, in three cores taken at 2m intervals. pH at time of sampling was 6.8.
