Drug-resistant M. tuberculosis strains isolated from TB patients in Georgia

We studied the molecular epidemiology and the (micro)evolution of M. tuberculosis, the causative agent of TB, in Georgia. Samples were taken from diagnosed TB patients, strains were cultured and analysed. From some patients multiple samples were taken during the treatment period, in order to allow detection of microevolution for instance to progression of drug resistance. Deep sequencing was performed on a subset of the collected samples.
