The deep gap still existing between traditional academic history and Public History requires a profound epistemological reflection and a rethinking of the disciplinary status of history. Public History is also a methodological enrichment and above all opens new professional perspectives for new generations. The growth of the web has been combined with the development of Public History, especially in the field of digital humanities. Digital archives - no longer only intended as places of "deposit" and "conservation" of documents, but also as tools for research and sharing - can be a tool for the recovery from the bottom of unpublished sources and for the realization of true scientific agora.
