Infant gut microbiota: from breastfeeding to weaning

Dynamic sequence of events from birth to adulthood characterize the microbial colonization of human gut, making the gut microbiota specific for each individual. In this project, 29 fecal samples were collected from a single infant to define the evolution of gut microbiota in relation to the changes of breast milk composition during the lactation time and to evaluate the changes induced by the addition of complementary foods during the weaning. Targeted metagenomics was applied to depict microbiota composition.
