Myeloid cell programming in patients with non-medullary thyroid carcinoma

Immunotherapy has emerged in the last decade from an unfulfilled promise to a mainstay cancer treatment next to chemo- or radiotherapy. Accumulating evidence from the last years shows however that cells of the innate immune system are also crucial components of the immune response to cancer. In this study, we consider the crucial role of myeloid cells by integrating transcriptional and functional analysis of circulating myeloid cells and their bone marrow progenitors to characterise the spectrum of immune cell states in patients with thyroid cancer and multinodal goiter. Additionally, we assessed the effects of treatment with surgery and 131I on myeloid cells and their tumor suppressive phenotype.EGA study EGAS00001005594
