Dataset of "Toward a SCEC Broadband Platform With 3D Low-frequency Synthetics (BBP 3D)"

This dataset contains the results and data processing scripts generated for and described in the paper "Toward a SCEC Broadband Platform With 3D Low-frequency Synthetics (BBP 3D)": 1/ The synthetic time series of BBP 3D and BBP 1D in our validations are located in "BBP3D-validation-timeseries" with 2 subfolders: 1.1/ In subfolder "BBP1D3D-10-realization", lists of source goodness-of-fit rankings within the 64-realization test of BBP 1D in the Study 22.4 are stored as " BBP1D-rank-realization-XX.txt" for all three events (LP for Loma Prieta, NR for Northridge, and RC for Ridgecrest). The 10 best sources of each event was included in our ensemble simulations and the results of those runs are saved under their folders respectively, as summarized below: Ensemble runs folder name Model descriptions LPval_sourceXX_q7l6 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake validation simulations in northrern California, using BBP 1D (up to 1 Hz) and BBP 3D (up to 1 Hz and 2 Hz) and GPRG source model number 'XX'. All 3D results include Qs/Vs ratio = 0.075 and LVT depth = 600 m. NRval_sourceXX_q1l7 1994 Northridge earthquake validation simulations in southern California, using BBP 1D (up to 1 Hz) and BBP 3D (up to 1 Hz and 2 Hz) and GPRG source model number 'XX'. All 3D results include Qs/Vs ratio = 0.1 and LVT depth = 700 m. RCval_souceXX_q1nl 2019 Ridgecrest earthquake validation simulations in central California, using BBP 1D (up to 1 Hz) and BBP 3D (up to 1 Hz and 2 Hz) and GPRG source model number 'XX'. All 3D results include Qs/Vs ratio = 0.1 and without LVT. Within the folder for each run, all waveform data are saved in ASCII format with suffix of ".acc.bbp" for accelerations and ".vel.bbp" for velocities at each station. Also, the parameter files, station lists, and source descriptions of that specific run are also stored as text files under the same folder, following the file formats in SCEC BBP (https://zenodo.org/records/7063074 and https://github.com/SCECcode/bbp). 1.2/ In subfolder "BBP3D-single-realization", the waveform results are saved for those single-source validation runs only using BBP 3D (up to 2 Hz), not in the final ensembles but included in the discussion sections or supplemental material of the paper, with the filenames indexing summarized below: Validation run folder name Model descriptions LPval_source03_q1l6_vs100 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake validation in northern California, using GPRG source #03, Qs/Vs = 0.1, LVT depth = 600 m, and minimum Vs = 100 m/s. Within the folder for each run, the waveform results are saved at each station as ASCII format on 3 components: '.BXE.ASC' for east-west component, '.BXN.ASC' for north-south component, and '.BXZ.ASC' for vertical component. In each of these files, the first column gives time in seconds and second column give the ground motion velocities in meters. Station locations can be found in the parameter files within "BBP1D3D-10-realization" for each of the three earthquakes. 2/ Apart from those syntheic waveform data, the python scripts used to calculate goodness-of-fit measurements and generate the figures based on the given time series are located in the folder "data-processing-scripts", with package requirements listed within each script.
