The main focus areas of this Eurobarometer are:

1. attitude of Europeans to Europe;

2. personal satisfaction as well as assessment of economic and political
development;

3. problems of environmental protection.

Topics: 1. Attitude of Europeans to Europe: assessment of development
of harmony between the states of the European Community; judgement on
membership of the country in the EC; attitude to a failure of the EC;
weighing advantages and disadvantages of membership of the country in
the EC; perceived activities of the European Parliament and personal
impression of this parliament; time of last noticed parliament
activities; attitude to unification of Europe; preference for national
or European measures against unemployment; personal willingness to make
sacrifices for economic support of a European member country.

2. Satisfaction as well as expectation of economic and political
development: general contentment with life (feeling happy);
satisfaction with democracy in the country; preferred political goals
for the next ten years; attitude to society; assessment of the
influence of other countries on the political decisions of the country
and assumed future development; judgement on the economic situation of
the country in comparison with the previous year as well as personal
economic situation; general expectation of the coming year; expected
development of strikes, company conflicts as well as international
crises next year; assessment of the probability of a new world war in
the next ten years (scale).

3. Problems of environmental protection: assessment of personal impact
of environmental pollution at place of residence; general concern about
environmental protection problems in one´s country; general concern
about biological and climate changes; preference for economic growth as
well as low price level or increased effort for environmental
protection measures.

4. Miscellaneous: political discussions in one´s circle of friends;
self-assessment of opinion leadership; self-classification on a
left-right continuum; party allegiance; religiousness; type of city;
preferred form of housing; opportunities to receive foreign television
stations; frequency of foreign broadcasts seen up to now; interest in
satellite television; preference for completely synchronized versions
of foreign films or inserted captions; interest in a possibility to
choose between synchronization and original language.

Demography: age; sex; marital status; religious denomination;
occupational position; employment; company size; household income;
household size; household composition; respondent is head of household;
characteristics of head of household; party preference (Sunday
