zebrafish kiss genes knockouts deep sequencing

Mammals possess only one Kisspeptin gene, but in teleost like zebrafish, there are two copies. While knockout of Kiss1 results in infertility in mammals, knockout of both kiss1 and kiss2 barely affects zebrafish reproduction. The functions and their functional divergence of zebrafish kiss genes are still not fully elucidated. Deep-sequencing results will reveal the different downstream pathways affected by the two kiss genes and will help to understand their functions and functional divergence.
