The extent， structure， and diversity of floodplain forests have been strongly modified by human pressures. Yet they are areas with a high biological diversity， and specificity， and riparian areas are important for fish， amphibians， and mammals and for fluvial system functioning. Restoration of floodplain forests can be achieved at three scales: catchment， reach， and local scales.
