Parkes observations for project P622 semester 2008APRS

We propose to observe a highly peculiar pulsar, B0826-34, which shows both the\r\nphenomenon of drifting and nulling. Some of us have shown in the past, that at\r\nhigh frequencies the pulsar actually emits low-level emission during the\r\n"nulls" and that the resulting profile resembles the pulse shape observed at\r\nlow frequencies. We would like to observe this pulsar simultaneously at 10cm\r\nand 50cm, in order to study the occurrence of both emission modes at these low\r\nand high frequencies at the same time. We will use the data also to study the\r\npulsar's subpulse drift pattern, which is among the most complex known for any\r\npulsar. The results of this short project promise to shed light on the\r\nemission physics of pulsars at its most fundamental level by testing our\r\ncurrent understanding of the pulsar phenomenon.
