Metagenome assembled genomes from a Plastic-Polluted Coastal Hotspot

Our findings illuminate the genomic blueprint of microbial diversity and function in polluted marine sediments and provide a valuable resource for developing microbe-based strategies for plastic bioremediation. Future work will focus on heterologous expression and functional characterisation of the identified enzymes to assess their degradation potential, further advancing sustainable approaches to environmental restoration.
