Dendrocaramus sinicus, known as the strongest bamboo in the world, has excellent potential for producing timber. Two variants, straight culm and bent culm, which are found throughout the species distribution area, are excellent materials for studying culm-shape variation and culm development of woody bamboos. However, the lack of genomic information has limited genetic studies in D. sinicus. Here, we performed transcriptome analysis of two types of D. sinicus.These high-quality data provide valuable gene annotation for culm-shape differentiation and culm development of woody bamboo.
