Schistosoma haematobium Genome sequencing and assembly

We sequenced the S. haematobium genome from 200 ng of genomic DNA template isolated from a single, mated pair (one male and one female) of adult worms, and produced 33.5 Gb of useable sequence data. We then assembled the data and used local assemblies to close most (96.1%) of the remaining gaps, achieving a final assembly of 385 Mb (365 contigs; scaffold-N50 of 307 kb).
