资源简介:
This repository deposit contains the data extraction and methodological appraisal materials developed for a mixed-methods systematic review examining the impact of health information interoperability (HII) on healthcare professional performance. The review was conducted in accordance with PRISMA 2020 guidelines and employed a convergent narrative synthesis to integrate qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods evidence.
The objective of the review was to assess how interoperable health information systems such as electronic health records and health information exchange platforms affect key dimensions of healthcare professional performance, including clinical decision-making, efficiency, communication, and workflow processes. Given the complexity of interoperability as a sociotechnical intervention, a mixed-methods approach was adopted to capture both measurable outcomes and contextual influences.
A systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed and Scopus in January 2026, covering publications from January 2015 to December 2025. The search strategy combined controlled vocabulary (e.g., MeSH terms) and free-text keywords across three domains: health information interoperability, healthcare professionals, and performance outcomes. A total of 3,905 records were identified and thirty-three studies met the inclusion criteria and were included in the final synthesis.
The repository includes three main components. Appendix 1 provides the full Boolean search strategies used in both databases, ensuring transparency and reproducibility. Appendix 2 presents methodological quality assessments of all included studies using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT), version 2018. Each study was evaluated across five design-specific criteria, with ratings recorded as Yes, No, or Can’t Tell. Appendix 3 contains the structured data extraction table, including study characteristics such as author, year, country, design, setting, professional groups, type of interoperability intervention, and reported performance outcomes.
The dataset enhances transparency by enabling verification of the review process and supports reproducibility by providing all underlying materials. It also serves as a resource for researchers conducting similar reviews or studies in digital health and health systems. The materials are linked to a manuscript currently under review in Health Policy and Technology and are shared under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license, allowing reuse with appropriate attribution.
