The indoor cultivation of cannabis had a much higher environmental impact than outdoor cultivation globally as of 2018; consuming around 1.27 kilowatt hours per gram, compared to 0.07 kilowatt hours per gram. Although outdoor cultivation of this plant reduces energy and carbon impacts, the plant is exposed to other factors and is more vulnerable to impurities.
