This dataset investigates the impact of South Korea’s housing allowance programme on the physical and mental health of households, using Korea Welfare Panel Study data (2001–2021). The analysis employs a difference-in-differences approach integrated with a seemingly unrelated regression model to assess health outcomes before and after the 2015 programme expansion. Variables include demographic factors, housing allowance recipient status, and health indicators. Results show that the housing allowance is associated with improvements in health among low-income recipients, supporting a stress process conceptual model in which government intervention can mitigate the negative biological effects of housing insecurity. Data are anonymized and suitable for empirical welfare economics and public health research.
