In this study, we surveyed the diversity and composition of microbial communities in the feces and intestine from the pygmy sperm whale (Kogia breviceps). Our results revealed that the fecal and intestine microbiome of pygmy sperm whales were dominated by Proteobacteria (46.6%), Firmicutes (27.8%), Bacteroidetes (14.3%) and Actinobacteria (9.2%), and Firmicutes (52.2%), Proteobacteria (19.1%), Bacteroidetes (13.2%) and Actinobacteria (12.5%), respectively.
