This project was aimed at understanding the role of the quasi-essential RNase Y in the gram-positive model organism Bacillus subtilis. For this purpose, RNA profiles of a wild type strain (168, WT), an rny mutant lacking RNase Y (GP2501), and a suppressor strain that show improved growth despite the lack of RNase Y (GP2518) were compared.
