Pre-treatment sampling of aboveground plant biomass was conducted in 2007 in the
NutNet study site located in dry meadow east of T-van on Niwot Ridge. Aboveground
biomass was clipped from 20x50 cm quadrats. Samples were collected in 5 experimental
plots (out of 10) in each of 4 replicate blocks for a total of 20. Quadrats were
placed in the same subplots used to record species composition. Biomass was recorded
as g per 0.1 m2 in live graminoid, dead graminoid, live forb, and Trifolium
categories. NOTE: The LTER data portal display does not display important maintenance/log
information or other EML metadata features. Please be sure to view the EML file (a
text file that contains XML tags) which is included in the zip archive (click on
"Download zip archive") pertaining to each dataset. The EML file name will have the
following format: knb-lter-nwt.[3 digit dataset number].[version number].xml. Most
web browsers can parse the EML so it's easier to read.
