Papillomaviruses have been previously identified in turtles, snakes, and geckos. In this study, next-generation sequencing and virus-specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis were employed to detect a papillomavirus, designated JsPV, in the oral cavity of the splendid japalure (Japalura splendida) in southwestern China.
