Long-lasting effects of oral polysaccharides on chemotherapy efficacy via alteration of the gut microbiota in a mouse model

Gemcitabine always has a short-term immune effect, and we consider using oral polysaccharides to lengthen its immune effect by modulating gut microbiotas. To verify this, we built a breast cancer mice model in situ, oral polysaccharides and a low-dose of Gemcitabine were administrated, and we found combined treatment has a certain immune enhancement effect through immunological-related experiments and tumor measurement. Additionally, 16s rRNA sequencing and metabonomics studies found combination treatment increases Butyric Acid and Trptophan and reshapes the gut microbiota.
