Mapping of Forest Fires Risk Using Geoprocessing Techniques

ABSTRACT This study aimed to define, by analyzing the influence of predictive factors like climate, topography, land use and human influence, a risk map to forest fires with the use of GIS techniques. According to the results, none of the predictors’ classes alone explains the spatial distribution of the occurrences. However, this study was able to show the influence of factors on the occurrence of forest fires. The generated maps show satisfactory efficiency in fire prediction in the study region.
