Trajectories of restored California grassland communities: light data

This experiment takes place in 36 gopher exclosures constructed in 1998 in an experimental planted perennial grassland. Each exclosures has an area of 400 square meters. These plots have been subjected to a factorial combination of nitrogen addition, burning and pocket gopher addition. We began the introduction of pocket gophers into the pens in the fall of 1999. We conducted controlled burns on 12 of the plots in the fall of 2000. Data include monthly soil moisture data and annual measurements of cover (1 m^2 pinframes), biomass production by species (0.2 m^2), and light (photosymthetically active radiation) at ground level.
