Catostylus mosaicus NSW Australia 1996-2003

Data are quantitative visual surveys of Catostylus mosaicus (Scyphozoa, Rhizostomae) from various estuaries along the New South Wales coast, Australia. Medusae with bell diameters >50mm were counted from the bow of a boat along transects that were 500m long, 3 m wide and 1m deep. At each location and time 4-6 transects were sampled at each of six sites (i.e. a total of 24-36 transects per location and time). The frequency with which locations were sampled differed: Botany Bay - sampled ~monthly from March 1996-July 1998 Lake Illawarra - sampled ~ every six weeks from March 1996 - May 1998 and again from August 2001-October 2003 Lake Wooloweyah - sampled March, July, Oct 1996, March, August, Nov 1997 Wallis Lake - sampled Nov 2006, March, Aug, Nov 1997 Port Stephens - sampled March, July, Oct 1996, March, August, Nov 1997 Batemans Bay - sampled March, July, Oct 1996, March, August, Dec 1997
