Utilizing a comparative approach to assess genome evolution during diploidization in Artemisia tridentata (Asteraceae), a keystone species of western North America

These data contain new Illumina short-read sequencing and genome assembly data for Artemisia tridentata (isolate UTT2; Utah, USA). The assembly data are aligned to the IDT3 reference genome (Idaho, USA; from Melton et al., 2022 https://doi.org/10.1093/g3journal/jkac122; GenBank Assembly GCA_023558565.1), and correspond with assembly data for isolate IDT2 (Idaho, USA; Melton et al., 2021 https://doi.org/10.1002/ece3.8245; PRJNA722258). These genomes were annotated using EDTA (https://github.com/oushujun/EDTA) and compared to identify structural variation in chromosomes and transposable element content.
