Glacial Geology of Marthas Vineyard

Compiled dataset utilized by Woodwell in their 'Carbon Smart MV' analysis - study published in 2025. Data source based on Oldale & Barlow (1986) per 'Carbon Smart MV' report pg 11. Methodology & data source per email from Woodwell Climate Research Center (June 2025): Glacial Geology polygons were digitized from this image file of the map in David Foster's MV book: https://www.digitalcommonwealth.org/search/commonwealth:vh53xv450. The final dataset has 3 broad classes of glacial geology: Moraine, Outwash, and Outwash Over Moraine. Following David Foster's map, Woodwell merged 'beach' into Outwash. Other categories such as wetland deposits, ponds, and undifferentiated sand and gravel were merged into one of the 3 broad classes based on proximity.
