Ultraluminous X-ray sources (ULXs) are extragalactic X-ray sources possibly hosting super-Eddington accreting black holes or neutron stars. The ULX population shows sources with randomic long and short-term variability. We selected the twelve nearby ( and amp amp amp lt 20 Mpc) galaxies that most probably host ULXs and that were not observed in X-rays. We ask for snapshot (10 ks) observations to complete the census of ULXs in the nearby universe. [truncated! Please see actual data for full text]
