Diet supplementation with fructans, such as agavins has been shown to increase weight loss. In this study we investigated the effect of a diet shift and agavins supplement in the cecal microbiota of overweight mice and its possible association with a body weight loss. To our knowledge, this is the first report on the effects of a diet shift and agavins supplementation on the cecal microbiota composition through a 16S rRNA analysis in overweight mice.
