Two strains (PL152 and PL155) proposed to belong to Pectobacterium colocasium, were isolated from the diseased taro corms, collected from Hawai'i in 2018. Based on concurrent results of multi-approach analysis including Average Nucleotide Identity (ANI), digital DNA DNA Hybridization (dDDH) and Multi-Locus Sequencing Analysis (MLSA), the strains PL152 and PL155 are supported as a novel species of Pectobacterium genus.
