Indigenous microbial community governs Escherichia coli O157:H7 survival in constructed wetland

Escherichia coli O157:H7 (E. coli O157:H7) survival and its regulating factors had been widely studied in natural environments. However, the information on E. coli O157:H7 survival in artificially constructed wastewater treatment structure, which is the hub of pathogen from wastewater, is rare. In this study, a comprehensive research was conducted to explore the survival of E. coli O157:H7 by contamination experiment in two pilot-scale constructed wetlands (CWs) with different hydraulic loading rates (HLRs).
